The Cost

Part D is typically pretty low cost and starts as low as $13 per month, but this isn’t the only reason you should sign up. If you don’t sign up for Part D as part of your initial enrollment and decide you want to enroll later, you will be charged an IRMAA fine from the government.

How to Apply

In order to enroll in Part D, you will need to already be enrolled in Part A. From there, you’ll need to provide the dates that your Part A coverage as part of your application. Once your application has been approved, you’ll have prescription drug coverage.

Medication Coverage

Just like with most under-65 healthcare plans, the cost of a prescription will depend on whether it is generic, what pharmacy you use, and whether or not you’ve met your deductible. To get an idea of what Part D covers, check the resources here.

Part D is one piece of the Medicare puzzle that comes together to make a comprehensive plan. If you have questions or need assistance with applying for Medicare Part D, contact us to get in touch with one of our agents.
